Who We Are
The state of California currently ranks 41st nationwide in per pupil spending, adjusted for cost of living. As a result, its public school districts are increasingly turning to private foundations for supplementary funding to ensure they can provide the education today’s children need to succeed in tomorrow’s workplace.
That’s where the Portola Valley Schools Foundation comes in.
The Portola Valley Schools Foundation is a non-profit volunteer organization that provides private financial support to the Portola Valley School District. Our purpose is to close the gap between what public education funding pays for and the high-quality education we desire for our children.
The Foundation typically contributes between 6% and 9% of the District’s annual $15 million budget, supporting low student/teacher ratios, classroom aides, reading specialists, physical education, science, music, art programs and more.
Thanks to the generous support of our families, neighbors, staff, teachers, alumni and local businesses, we provide critical financial support so that the District can deliver an exceptional education to our children. As a result, the District’s students consistently achieve some of the top scores in San Mateo County in Math and Language Arts. Those scores are, in many ways, the direct result of the Foundation’s support of programs that boost the academic culture across both of the District’s campuses.
Excellence doesn’t happen by accident. Educational success is created with a solid core curriculum, and innovative and engaging teaching efforts that ensure students are fully invested in their learning.
It takes a valley – Portola Valley – to raise a child. We thank all of our generous donors for the role they play in that monumental effort.
We sincerely appreciate donations of any amount that is appropriate for your family or business. Donations are tax-deductible. Our tax ID is 93-1012148.
