Allocation of Funds
We contribute financially to the Portola Valley School District with the express intent of helping it provide and maintain consistently high-quality educational opportunities for the two schools in our District: Ormondale Elementary and Corte Madera School. There are three, separate ways that the Foundation collects and gives money to the District:
General Fund Contributions
The Foundation’s Annual Campaign contributions to the District are not directed giving. Rather, the Foundation gifts a lump sum to the District’s General Fund each year and the District decides how to spend those additional dollars. The District typically uses the supplemental funding to finance key programs and services that many other Districts in California have cut due to lack of funding. The Foundation is in close contact with the District throughout the year to oversee how its donation is spent.

Endowment Grants
The Endowment fund supports pilot projects that enable our teachers and district to experiment with ways of improving our students’ curriculum.
Fund-A-Need
Every other year, the Foundation holds a fundraiser party to further supplement the District’s general fund by supporting a special project called Fund-A-Need. The special project is identified in partnership with District leaders.
